To provide a solid cleanser capable of easily taking out dirt by no use of a washing tool such as a scrubbing brush or a sponge, showing a good washing and polishing power and effectively taking out dirt by its use of only a small amount.

A solid cleanser 1 is obtained by forming a clay having the following properties (A) and (B) into a predetermined shape and drying it; (A) when the clay is dried, it solidifies to show rigidity and (B) when the clay is soaked in water, a wet clay particle is isolated to show a creamy property on the clay surface. The clay is preferably formed into a cylindrical shape. Soap is preferably filled in the cylindrical hole of the formed item. The formed item preferably has a cover on its circumferential surface.
