Title:
SOLID ELECTROLYTE MEMBRANE HAVING COMPONENT FOR IMPROVING MECHANICAL AND CATALYTIC CHARACTERISTICS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3699264
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a mechanical characteristic, and minimize the fine crack of a membrane to improve catalytic effect, by including a matrix material for conducting at least one kind of ion, preferably oxygen ion, and at least one kind of component physically different from the matrix material, which improves one of the various kinds of characteristic of the matrix material.
SOLUTION: A matrix material is a hybrid conductor showing electron conductivity and oxygen ion conductivity, and is Ag, Pt, or Rh, etc., or a mixture of these substances. A close packed matrix membrane has a first and second surfaces and is constituted of at least one kind of membrane component improving the mechanical and catalytic characteristics and the sintering behavior of at least one kind of matrix materials and existing in a mode where continuous electron conduction crossing the membrane to pass through the membrane component, is hindered. A porous coating is arranged on the at least one side surface of the membrane for improving the speed of surface reaction in a gaseous species.
