PURPOSE: To obtain a solid fuel which exhibits a high calorific value and burns for a long period of time and has an excellent ignitability, by kneading an alcohol contg. a binder with charcoals and lime or ash or soil to solidify them.
CONSTITUTION: An alcohol fuel is kneaded with charcoals such as charcoal and anthracite and lime, ash or soil to allow them to solidify. At least the outer surface of the solid fuel may be covered with a material obtd. by gelation of an alcohol with a metal salt of a higher fatty acid, sorbitol or nitrocellulose. Further, the solid fuel may be packed in a resin container, etc., having self- ignitability, followed by sealing of the container. Examples of the alcohol with which the charcoals are impregnated include methanol, ethanol, propanol and butanol. Since the use of only methanol leads to the formation of formalin during combustion, it is preferable that the amt. of alcohols to be added be adjusted.
