PURPOSE: To increase reliability of a solid high polymer electrolyte type fuel cell by using a solid high polymer electrolyte substance in which a plurality of solid high polymer electrolyte films are laminated to prevent crossleak in the solid high polymer electrolyte films.
CONSTITUTION: A solid high polymer electrolyte type fuel cell is constituted of a solid high polymer electrolyte member 7, an electrode 8 and separators 4. The electrode 8 is closely arranged in two main surface of the solid high polymer electrolyte member 7, and the solid high polymer electrolyte member 7 in which the electrode 8 is arranged is held between the separators 4. The solid high polymer electrolyte member 7 is one in which a plurality of solid high polymer electrolyte films 1 are laminated. In the solid high polymer electrolyte films 1, water is contained and protons are diffused, and the separator 4 supplies fuel gas and oxidant gas to the electrode 8. When a plurality of solid high polymer electrolyte films 1 are laminated, even though a pin-hole is present in the respective films 1, the crossleak of reactive gas is reduced because the pin-hole is mutually displaced.
