PURPOSE: To enable smear or blooming to be suppressed and a picture quality to be improved by forming an edge portion of a glare-protection conductive layer while it is extended in a direction of a light-reception portion from an edge portion of a lowest layer.
CONSTITUTION: A silicide 14 with a glare-protection property of a second layer is formed like a canopy of eaves for a first-layer polysilicon 8 of a transfer gate, thus enabling a light which enters a transfer portion T from an outside to be screened and hence preventing an unneeded light which causes smear to be produced from entering the transfer portion T directly. Also, the second- layer silicide 14 which is formed on the first-layer polysilicon 8 is formed so that an edge portion of the polysilicon 8 is covered, thus enabling light to be screened for a spacing corresponding to a thickness of the polysilicon 8. Therefore, an edge portion of a glare-protection silicide 14 is located on an inner side of a light-reception portion R as compared with an edge portion of the polysilicon 8 and a distance between a glare-protection layer and a substrate becomes small, thus enabling a spacing where light leaks to be small, a light entering the transfer portion T directly to be further reduced, and enabling smear to be reduced.
