Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress color mixture into a phase difference pixel and perform accurate phase difference AF.SOLUTION: A solid state image pickup device 10 has a plurality of phase difference pixels 42a, 42b for selectively receiving light from a predetermined direction in a light-receiving region where a plurality of pixels for accumulating electric charge in accordance with incident light quantity by the photodiode, are arranged thereon, at least one pixel adjacent to phase difference pixels 42a, 42b, is a light control pixel 43. The light control pixel 43 has a light control element 55 whose transmitted light quantity is changed in accordance with an applied voltage, and when a distance measurement is performed based on electric charge accumulated in phase difference pixels 42a, 42b, the light control element 55 is made opaque and when imaging an object, the light control element 55 is made transparent.
