Title:
SOLID-LIQUID PHASE INTERFACIAL POLYMERIZATION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000169584
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To obtain a copolymer having a controlled polymer chain structure and composition by reacting an organic solvent solution containing a dihaloorganosilane or the like with a nonaqueous solid phase based on an alkali metal silanolate or siloxanolate at the formed interface and recovering a siloxane-base alternating block copolymer from the interface.

This organic solvent solution is prepared by dissolving a dihaloorganosilane or α,ω-dihaloorganosiloxane in a nonaqueous solvent. An alkali metal silanolate is represented by the formula: RxSi(OM)4-x (wherein R is alkyl or the like; x is O to 3; and M is a group IA alkali metal), and the alkali metal siloxanolate is represented by the formula: MO(R2SiO)nM (wherein n is 2-20; and other symbols are as defined above). The solid phase does not contain a solvent and is immiscible, No catalyst is required for the polymerization, and there is no problem related to transformation. The obtained polysiloxane comprises a thermoplastic elastomer suitcible for a sealant, a filler and a film.
