PURPOSE: A solid lubricant with excellent lubricating and braking characteristics, liquefying at a temp. higher than that caused by heat of sliding acting on a sliding surface, which is primarily composed of microcrystalline wax and paraffin wax.

CONSTITUTION: 50W80wt% low-melting microcrystalline wax compound, 5W 25wt% paraffin wax or vaseline, 5W20wt% carnauba wax, 5W15wt% vinyl acetate and 5W15wt% cylinder oil are compounded and molded to obtain solid lubricant 15, of which the solid lubricating coat applied to a sliding surface is liquefied at a temp. higher than that caused by heat of sliding acting on the sliding surface. Solid lubricant 15 is inserted into supporting frames 14a, 14b and 14c opening oppositely with three sliding surfaces 3a, 3b and 3c of guide rail 3 of an elevator, and lubricating device 13 integrated with the lubricant by fram 13F is attached to attachement sheat 20 of an elevator cage, forming a solid lubricating coat on the sliding surface 3aW3c with each lubricant 15 as the elevator travels.
