To obtain a solid lubricating material which can be stably used for a long term in driving parts, such as rotating or sliding parts, of machines, and can form a solid lubricating film excellent in durability, such as resistances to corrosion, acids, and abrasion and in adhesiveness by compounding a solid lubricant with a metal component and/or a metal boride.
At least one solid lubricant pref. selected from WS2, MoS2, BN, and C is mixed with at least one metal component pref. selected from among W, Fe, Ni, Cr, Mo, Ag, Cu, Sn, Pb, and Zn and/or at least one metal boride selected from among CrB, TiB, MoB, WB, and TaB, and the resultant mixture is press molded into pellets, then sintered at about 1,100°C in a vacuum, and ground into a powder having an average particle size of about 3 μm, thus giving the objective lubricating material. The material is mixed together with a machine part (e.g. bearing balls) in a mixer to be attached by pressure to the surface of the part, thus forming a lubricating film.
