Abstract:

To provide a solid lubricating material having a sliding part such as an artificial joint and giving sufficient lubricity even in an environment in the living body.

A polymer chain of methyl methacrylate, etc., is grafted in high density to the surface of a substrate such as a silicon wafer constituting a lubricating part by living polymerization to improve friction properties. The surface treatment of the substrate is carried out by forming a Langmuir-Blodgett film with 2-(4-chlorosulfonylphenyl)ethyl trimethoxysilane, etc., to form a polymerization starting group.
