To provide a material for forming a cathode for a SOFC, the cathode being capable of achieving excellent performance as an electrode even at an operating temperature, such as 600-800°C, lower than a conventional operating temperature.
The material for forming a cathode for a solid oxide fuel cell is composed of a composite containing a perovskite-type oxide represented by the formula: LnaAebCecMdO3-δ, where Ln represents one or more kinds of elements selected from lanthanoid elements, Ae represents one or more kinds of elements selected from the group consisting of Sr, Ca, and Ba, M represents one or more kinds of elements selected from the group consisting of Co, Mn, Ni, Fe, Ti, Al, Zr, Ga, Mg, Cu, In, Sn, V, Cr, Zn, Ge, Sc, and Y, and a, b, c, and d represent real numbers satisfying 0.3≤a≤0.7, 0.3≤b≤0.7, 0.01≤c≤0.3, and 1.7≤a+b+c+d≤2.0, and a cerium oxide.
