To provide a solid oxide fuel cell capable of executing a shutdown stop while sufficiently suppressing oxidation of a fuel battery cell.
The present invention relates to a solid oxide fuel cell (1). The solid oxide fuel cell (1) includes: a fuel cell module (2); a fuel supply device (38); a water supply device (28); an oxidant gas supply device (45); a reformer (20) subjecting a fuel supplied from the fuel supply device to steam reforming using water supplied from the water supply device and supplying the reformed fuel to the fuel electrode side of a fuel battery cell stack (14); and a controller (110) which controls the fuel supply device, the water supply device, and the oxidant gas supply device, and also controls the extraction of power. The controller executes a shutdown stop in a state where the fuel battery cell stack is at an oxidation temperature or above, and executes stop preprocessing decreasing temperatures at the fuel electrode side and the oxidant gas electrode side just before the shutdown stop.
