To provide a solid pigment composition which has a high storage stability and a high pigment content, is easily re-dispersible, and hence is used as a colorant for staining seeds/seed make-up materials.

As a colorant for staining seeds/seed make-up materials, there is used a solid pigment composition comprising a) at least one organic or inorganic pigment, and b) at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a polyether polyol, a reaction product of an alkylene oxide with an alkylable compound, and an oxyalkylated phenol, particularly phenol/styrene polyglycol ether. The solid pigment composition contains water in an amount of less than 10 wt.% and has an average particle size of 20 to 2,000.
