PURPOSE: The titled gum-like agglomerate useful in the production of porous products of a variety of shapes, especially, extremely thin porous films, comprising a solid powder prepared by adding a solid powder to a dispersion of a tacky polymer to form a paste-like mixture and adding thereto a coagulant.

CONSTITUTION: A paste-like mixture is prepared by adding a solid powder to a dispersion of a tacky polymer. Then, a coagulant is added to this mixture to form a solid powder-based gum-like agglomerate. For example, nickel carbonyl is used as the solid powder. To this are added water and a polytetrafluoroethylene dispersion, and the mixture is stirred thoroughly to form a paste-like product. Ethyl alcohol is added slowly to the product under agitation to separate the mixture into a solid coagulated phase and a colorless transparent liquid phase. The gum-like product in the coagulated phase is tack-free and is not dispersed in water when it is wahsed with water. Sufficient milling is necessary to obtain a granular product or a thick plate from this agglomerate, while excessive milling must be avoided to obtain a thin film.
