Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid-state pulse micro laser which is compact in structure, suitable for a centralized manufacturing method, and lessened in cost by a method wherein two planes are provided in a micro modulator nearly parallel with each other and at an angle with a laser axis and varied in distance between them. SOLUTION: Sloping planes 36 and 38 can be controlled and changed in distance between them by a piezoelectric material. Plates 44 and 46 of piezoelectric material are arranged in gaps 40 and 42 between prisms 32 and 34. Control electrodes 48, 50, 52, and 54 are arranged on the sides of the piezoelectric elements 44 and 46. The electrodes 48, 50, 52, and 54 are connected to means which are capable of applying polarization voltage on the piezoelectric plates 44 and 46. It is profitable that piezoelectric elements are formed of material of high tensor coefficient. By this setup, the piezoelectric element can be easily set movable in the directions of an arrow 56 vertical to the axial direction of a micro laser.
