PURPOSE: To obtain a solid retouching composition that has no unpleasant odor and dries rapidly to form a film on which writing can be made suitably with a ball point pen, by mixing water or an organic solvent, an adhesive resin, a white inorganic pigment, white resin particles, and a gelling agent.

CONSTITUTION: A solid retouching composition containing a component (A) comprising water and/or an organic solvent (preferably a mixture of 100 pts. water and 5-300 pts. aqueous organic solvent such as propylene glycol monomethyl ether), an adhesive resin (B) (e.g. polyvinyl butyral) in an amount of 5-20 pts. based on the total composition, a white inorganic pigment (C) (e.g. titanium oxide), white resin particles (D) having a particle diameter of 0.1-10μm and a refractive index of 1.4 to 1.6 (e.g. particles of polystyrene or polymethyl methacrylate), the total of C and D accounting for 30-80wt.% of the total composition, and a gelling agent (E) (e.g. preferably a dibenzal derivative of a sugar alcohol such as xylose) in an amount of 1-10wt.% based on the total composition.
