To easily input the gestures and motions by providing a difference detection means which detects the difference of signals in response to the quantity of light that is received by two light receiving means.
The light emitted from a light emitting means 105 is reflected on an object 106 and forms an image on the light receiving surface of a reflected light extraction means 108. A timing control means 112 controls the timing so that the means 105 emits the light while a 1st light receiving means 109 of the means 108 is receiving the light and so that the means 105 does not emit the light while a 2nd light receiving means 110 of the means 108 is receiving the light. The means 109 receives not only the light that is emitted from the means 105 and reflected on the object 106 but also the external light such as the sunlight and illumination light. The means 110 receives only the external light. A difference arithmetic part 111 outputs only the component of the light reflected on the object 106 which is the difference of images which are received by both means 109 and 110. The output sent from the means 108 is processed by a feature information generation means 116.
