To provide a solid-state imaging apparatus and an imaging method for preventing signals from being mixed between different colors, even if a branch cannot transfer signal charges completely.
A light receiving element 46 in an imaging element 44 photoelectrically converts transmission light from a color filter for performing color separation into three colors of red, green, and blue. The signal charges read by the light receiving element 46 are transferred by a vertical transfer path 48 and a horizontal transfer path 50. Further, a branch 54 is arranged at the output end of the horizontal transfer path 50, thus distributing the transferred signal charges to a plurality of horizontal transfer paths 56, 58. Outputs 60, 62 are provided at the output ends of the horizontal transfer paths 56, 58. The horizontal transfer paths 50, 56, 58 transfer signal charges corresponding to red and blue, and then transfer signal charges corresponding to green.
