To provide a solid-state imaging element capable of keeping synchronism of exposure, and expanding a dynamic range; and an imaging device using it.
One frame is divided into long exposure and short exposure. Charge stored in a PD 303 by the long exposure is moved to a storage part 305 at an ending time of a long exposure period, thereafter the potential state of the storage part 305 is controlled to a state limiting a saturated charge amount, and an excessive charge portion stored more than the saturated charge amount within the charge stored in the storage part 305 at this point is discharged to a substrate. Thereafter, all the charge stored in the PD 303 by the short exposure is transferred to the storage part 305 by an operation similar to the previous transfer operation. Thereby, the stored charge in the storage part 305 reaches an amount obtained by adding the charge of the limited charge amount within the charge amount obtained by the long exposure in the PD 303 and the charge of the charge amount obtained by the short exposure.
