Abstract:
PURPOSE: To acquire a solid-state laser of high absorption of excitation laser beam, a large width of its absorption spectrum and high output stability by using a compound of a specified composition whereto Nd is added as a solid state laser medium.
CONSTITUTION: As a solid-state laser medium, YxGd1-xVO4 whereto Nd is added is used. Here, 0≤X≤0.5. LaxGd1-xVO4 whereto Nd is added is further used. Here, 0≤X≤0.1. Since absorption of excitating laser beam is improved by raising Nd ion concentration of solid-state laser medium substantially in this way, single longitudinal node of a solid-state laser can be realized and output thereof is stabilized. For example, a resonator of a solid-state laser is constituted of a light incidence side edge face 14a of Nd:GdVO4 crystal 14 and a resonator mirror 15. Reflection characteristic of the edge face 14a, another crystal edge face 14b and a mirror surface 15a of the mirror 15 to a specified wavelength is adjusted by coating.
