To obtain a solubilizer which can convert a water-insoluble material, such as a silicone oil,, to a transparent aq. soln. by using a particular arom. hydrocarbon copolymer contg. a sulfonic acid group and a polyether compd. in combination.
The following polymer (salt) contg. a sulfonic acid group (A1) or (A2) and a polyether compd. (a sulfation product or salt thereof) (B) are used in combination to prepare a solubilizer for a water-insoluble material. The component (A1) is a copolymer of a polymerizable arom. sulfonic acid monomer (a) with a monomer copolymerizable with the component (a), and the component (A2) is a copolymer of a polymerizable arom. hydrocarbon (c) with a monomer (d) copolymerizable with the component (c). The component (a) to component (b) ratio and the component (c) to component (d) ratio are respectively pref. (50:50) to (100:0). Examples of the component (a) include styrenesulfonic acid, examples of the component (b) include styrene and acrylic acid, examples of the component (c) include styrene and vinyltoluene, and examples of the component (d) include butadiene, isoprene, (meth)acrylic acid, and maleic acid. The component (B) is pref. a polyethylene glycol compd.
