Abstract:

PURPOSE: To prolong the service life of a coating apparatus and facilitate the cleaning operation of the apparatus in high safety, by cleaning the coating apparatus with a solvent containing a specific solvent as a true solvent after the coating with a non-aqueous dispersion paint and prior to the coating with a paint compounded with titanium dioxide pigment.

CONSTITUTION: A rotary atomizing coating apparatus to use a non-aqueous dispersion paint in combination with a paint compounded with titanium dioxide pigment is cleaned by using a solvent containing a medium W high-boiling solvent (preferably butyl acetate, 3-methyl-3-methoxybutyl acetate or dipropylene glycol methyl ether) having a boiling point of ≥100°C as a true solvent. The cleaning operation is carried out after the coating with the non-aqueous dispersion paint and before the coating with the paint compounded with titanium dioxide pigment.
