The solvent-resistant protector has a layer formed of modified polyvinyl alcohol resin having a group presented by a 1, 2-dior structural unit shown in general formula (1) at a side chain, on a protector base material. In the formula, R1, R2 and R3 independently represent a hydrogen atom or an organic group respectively, X represents a single bond or a bonding chain, and R4, R5 and R6 independently represent a hydrogen atom or an organic group, respectively.
