Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To position a search part with the best depth of sound wave propagation characteristics at all times by transmitting a sound signal between a flotating part and the search part and controlling a float according to a measurement taken by an underwater characteristic sensor.
SOLUTION: The search part 20 after being thrown onto water sinks into the water and the underwater characteristic sensor 23 measures sound propagation characteristics in the water. Its measurement data are transmitted to a transmitter/receiver 21 for transmission. The transmitter/receiver 21 converts the data into a sound signal for communication and sends it to a transmitter/receiver 14 for transmission at the flotation part 10, and the signal is converted into an electric signal, which is sent from an antenna 12 to a ground station. The ground station selects optimum depth of sound wave propagation characteristics from the measurement data and sends a depth select signal to the flotation part 10. The flotation part 10 converts this signal into a sound signal for communication and sends it to the search part 20. The transmitter receiver 21 converts the sound signal into an electric signal, which is outputted to a depth variation device 25 through an electric circuit part 22. A control part 25a controls two motors and an intake and an outlet valve according to the signal to adjust the air volume in the float 25b, thereby positioning the search part 20 at the selected depth.
