To provide a sorting method by corona discharge which can improve the recovering ratio of plastics.
The method for recovering and separating crushed refuse into a recovering container 6 by passing the crushed refuse between needle-like electrodes 4 for impressing a negative high voltage between themselves and a grounded drum electrode 2 to effect the corona discharge and the drum electrode 2 and separating the crushed refuse to conductive materials and insulators is constituted to include moisture within a range of 2 to 20% of a mass ratio to the water absorptive insulators, such as paper, cloth and timber, included in the crushed refuse by adding the moisture to the crushed refuse. The water absorptive insulators are provided with electrical conductivity to separate the insulators and the plastics which are the non-water absorptive insulators with good accuracy, by which the recovering ratio of the plastics is improved.
