To provide a low cost device to guide a visually handicapped person in which absolute minimum functions are provided so as to provide guidance information such as present position to the person and maintenance work load is reduced.

A sound generator 1 simply generates periodic sound to guide a visually handicapped person. The generator 1 consists of a timing circuit 8 which generates pulse signals having a prescribed period, a CR generating circuit 9 which outputs AC signals having a prescribed frequency within an audible band in accordance with the output of the circuit 8, a buzzer 6 which outputs audible sound to the external based on the AC signals and a battery 7 which supplies electric power to each section. The buzzer 6 continuously outputs audible sound while the battery 7 starts supplying power to the sections till finishes the supply.
