To provide a sound generator which can generate sounds from plants with a lightweight and simple configuration and is suitable for carrying and to provide a plant holder for sound generation using the same.

The sound generator for transmitting the sound vibrations from a sound source 12 to the plants, such as grass, flowers, trees, and the like and for generating sounds for listening from the plants comprises a holding section 16 which holds the plants while maintaining the contact state with the plants, and a transmitting section 14 which is coupled and fixed to both of the sound source 12 and the holding section 16 so as to mechanically transmit the sound vibrations from the sound source 12 to the holding section 16. The sound vibrations emitted in the sound source are thereby mechanically transmitted as they are as mechanical vibrations. Namely, the need for means for conversion to electrical signals is eliminated and the simple and lightweight configuration can be obtained.
