To prevent an audio sound signal from being distorted, the audio sound signal being obtained by correcting, based on sound image control information, a transformation coefficient of duplicated quadrature transformation such as MDCT.
In a sound image control apparatus 1, a sound image control parameter determination section 11 determines a sound image control parameter based on sound image control information for localizing an audio sound signal. A sound image control section 12 corrects an input transformation coefficient of duplicated quadrature transformation by shifting a phase or the like based on the sound image control parameter. A coefficient inverse transforming section 13 then transforms the corrected transformation coefficient into an audio sound signal in a time domain. A combination window control section 14 generates a combination window function based on the sound image control information, and a combination window superimposing section 15 multiplies the audio sound signal by a suitable combination window function, thereby obtaining a distortion reduced audio sound signal as an output signal.
