Abstract:
PURPOSE: To evaluate the quality of noise of a mechanical device quantitatively and automatically, improve accuracy, and increase speed of sound quality evaluation.
CONSTITUTION: A noise measuring instrument 1 measures the sound pressure of noise of a mechanical device to be examined. An A/D converter 2 converts measured sound pressure data to digital data and a data storage 3 stores the converted sound pressure data. The stored sound pressure 1 data are passed through a digital filter 4 to pass only each noise component at specific 24 critical bands. A critical band level calculator 5 calculates the sound level at each band at the passed noise component. A neural net degree-of-taste estimator 6 obtains the degree of taste in terms of sound quality based on the calculated sound level and a display 7 indicates the evaluation result.
