PURPOSE: To obtain the sound signal limit amplifier not providing adverse effect onto a reproduction characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: A sound signal (s) at a frequency band component from a low frequency to a high frequency received by an input terminal 1 is divided into signals f1, f2 at plural frequency bands through low and high frequency band selection circuits 11a, 11b. The sound signals f1, f2 at the band divided respectively are level limited by low and high frequency amplitude level limiting amplifier circuits 12a, 12b. Sound signals g1, g2 whose level is limited are added by an adder 13 and the synthesized sound signal (h) is given further to an output amplitude level limiting amplifier circuit 14, from which an output sound signal (i) is obtained. According to the procedure, a component of a frequency band with an excess level included in the received original signal (s) is subjected to limited amplification without giving effect onto the signal of the frequency band at the usual level, then the sound quality deterioration at the frequency band of the usual level is reduced.
