To provide a sound source detection method and a device capable of reducing a detection error in the sound source direction.
In this sound source detection method, a plurality of detection differences b, c between mutually corresponding sound waves detected by three or more sound wave detection means A, B, C are determined, and position information of the sound source P as a dotted sound source is determined based on the positions of the sound wave detection means and the plurality of detection differences. More specifically, one of a plurality of parameters for specifying the sound source position of the sound wave based on the positions of the sound wave detection means and the plurality of detection differences is set as a value r' as a temporary parameter, and a temporary sound source position P' is determined based on the temporary parameter and the plurality of detection differences, and a trial calculation is performed, whether the relation between the temporary sound source position and the positions of the three or more sound wave detection means has consistency in a prescribed allowable range or not. When the relation does not have the consistency, the value of the temporary parameter is changed and the trial calculation is continued, to thereby determine the position information having the consistency in the allowable range.
