Abstract:
PURPOSE: To detect the sound velocity sustaining range of a sound velocity nozzle through a simple detector.
CONSTITUTION: A supporting plate 3 is held between an upstream side flow pipe 1 and a downstream side flow pipe 2 for passing gas in the direction of arrow Q and a sound velocity nozzle 4 is fixed to the supporting plate 3. A microphone 5 is mounted on the wall of the upstream side flow pipe 1 and when the velocity of gas flowing through the nozzle 4 reaches a sound velocity sustaining range, sound wave generated from the nozzle 4 does not reach the microphone 5. Consequently, the sound pressure level detected by the microphone 5 varies abruptly at the border of critical pressure ratio and noncritical pressure ratio of the sound velocity nozzle 4. The variation is compared with a reference voltage 8 thus determining the sound velocity sustaining range.
