PURPOSE: To raise the efficiency of printing process by making printing with a printing speed indicated by a speed decider which decides printing speeds from the number of printing letters, the present value of printing head, and the end position of printing.
CONSTITUTION: Printing positions writen in a left end printing position register 21 and a right end printing position register 22 are put in a substruction circuit 24 to calculate the length of printing letter regions. When printing commands from printing data are detected, whether the printing speed is high or low is investigated by a processor 10. In the case of high speeds, the length of printing letter regions where a judgement is made that the lower the speed of printing, the shorter the spacing time is sent out to a comparison circuit 25 and compared with the output of the circuit 24. Even when high-speed printing is indicated by printing information, low-speed printing is recommendable. When higher speed printing action is completed, low-speed printing can be made.
