Abstract:
To provide a spacer for a TN type liquid crystal display device with which the TN type liquid crystal display device having display performance of a high grade is obtainable without exerting an adverse effect such as disturbance of the alignment of a liquid crystal to the liquid crystal even when impact is applied thereto.
The spacer for the TN type liquid crystal display device is formed by depositing a coating layer composed of a polymer on the surface of particulates. The polymer has, as a constitutional unit, a methacrylic component which has a 12 to 18C alkyl group and is expressed by a general formula (1). In the general formula (1), R1 denotes a 12 to 18C alkyl group.
