Title:
SPACESHIP
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5747299
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
A spacecraft (1, 32) is described, which is firstly taken into a near-earth orbit by a space cargo vehicle (30) of space shuttle type, and ascends from there into a geostationary or other orbit. In order to make optimum use of the space available in the space cargo vehicle (30) and of the other conditions of ascent, the entire spacecraft (1, 32) is constructed modularly like a flat, box-shaped platform of lattice framework design. In common with the payload (15, 16, 17, 18) and all subsystems, the drive system (11) for taking the spacecraft (1, 32) into its final orbit and for the path and attitude control in geostationary orbit are accommodated in the lattice framework (10) as an integral, non-separable component of the spacecraft.
