Abstract:

To provide a spark-ignition internal combustion engine reducing a pumping loss in a part-load operation area.

An external EGR passage 41 is connected to the side downstream of an intake air control valve 20 in the branch pipe 16a of an intake passage 16, and an EGR check valve 46 allowing EGR gas to flow only to the side of a cylinder is provided in the external EGR passage 41.
