Abstract:

To provide a spark ignition type direct injection engine capable of suppressing excessive thickening of mixture gas of a fuel atomization tip end, and enlarging a stratified operation region at a high load side.

The spark ignition type direct injection engine controls a fuel injection valve 18 in the stratified operation region including at least low load so that thick mixture gas is stratified around a ignition plug 16, and has a valve opening period change means for changing ratio of a valve opening period of the fuel injection valve to the same fuel injection amount. The means increases the ratio of the valve opening period of the fuel injection valve to the fuel injection amount with respect to a low load region having the same number of rotation as the high load region in a high load region of the stratified operation region. Therefore, since the ratio of the valve opening period of the fuel injection valve to the fuel injection amount is increased in the high load region of the stratified operation region and the fuel injection amount injected per unit of time is decreased, a moving speed of the fuel atomization can be reduced, and the excessive increase of the concentration of the mixture gas of the fuel atomization tip end placed around the ignition plug 16 can be suppressed.
