Abstract:

To improve exhaust emission controlling performance and fuel consumption performance by supplying air pressurized by means of an air pressure pump to combustion chambers of an internal combustion engine, and thereby improving combustion states of the combustion chambers.

In this type of internal combustion engine 2, air pressurized by an air pressure pump 30 is fed to combustion chambers 15, 16 of the internal combustion engine 2. The air pressure pump 30 is arranged on the side portion of the internal combustion 2, and connected to one of shaft ends of a crankshaft 11 through transmitting mechanisms 22, 23, 24, 25.
