Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug for an internal combustion engine which inhibits temperature rise of a ground electrode at high temperature and quickly increases a temperature of the ground electrode at low temperature.SOLUTION: A spark plug 1 for an internal combustion engine includes: a center electrode 2; an insulator 3 which holds the center electrode 2 inserted thereinto; a housing 4 which holds the insulator 3 inserted thereinto while exposing a base end side part of the insulator 3; and a ground electrode 11 which is joined to the housing 4 and forms a spark discharge gap G with the center electrode 2. The ground electrode 11 includes: a core material part 12 extending from the housing 4; and a cup shaped surface layer part 13 including an insertion hole 14 in which the core material part 12 is inserted and disposed. A tip side space S1 is formed between a tip part of the core material part 12 and a bottom part 141 of the insertion hole 14 on the surface layer part 13.
