Title:
SPARK PLUG FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3500555
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance crashworthiness by enhancing the force of adhesion between a center electrode and an insulator.
SOLUTION: A parallel groove 8, etc., is cut in the head 7 of a center electrode that is heated, sealed and secured inside an axial hole in an insulator with a glass sealant. Thus deformation of the head of the center electrode under pressure applied during packing of the pulverized glass sealant can be prevented, with the result that the glass sealant is surely poured down to the side of the flange of the center electrode, enhancing the mechanical fit between the center electrode and the insulator, i.e., the force of adhesion between them. Therefore, its crashworthiness can be enhanced, and its durability can also be secured sufficiently.
