Abstract:
To provide a spark plug having a ring-shaped member capable of improving the airtightness of a firing unit while suppressing cracking of an insulator during assembling.SOLUTION: A spark plug 1 includes a roughly tubular body fitting 30, an insulator 50 at least a portion of which is arranged inside the body fitting 30, a center electrode 20 arranged at the tip of the insulator 50, and a ground electrode 11 bonded to the body fitting 30 and forming a gap G between the center electrode 20 and the ground electrode. A plate packing (ring-shaped member) 62 is arranged between a shelf 38 of the body fitting 30 and a stepped portion 55 of the insulator 50. The plate packing 62 is in contact with a tapered surface 38a of the shelf 38 and a tapered surface 55a of the stepped portion 55, and has a recess 62a opening to the tip side in cross-sectional view.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
