To provide an woofer system which can be integrated into a speaker and an existent woofer mounted on a front door or a rear tray and is capable of obtaining low sound reproduction characteristics as high as a woofer having a larger aperture than that of the existent speaker without extending a sub-woofer.
The woofer system is comprised of a speaker unit SP with a built-in speaker and an adapter AD. The adapter includes a box body 1 including a space where sounds are radiated from the speaker and an acoustic load member 3 provided inside the space while facing the speaker, and a sound guide member 2 which communicates with the space, and forms a cavity extending perpendicularly to a sound radiation direction and is provided with a sound discharging opening A1 in its terminal portion. The sound discharging opening may also be provided on an upper surface of the terminal portion of the sound guide member. If the sound guide member is made long, characteristics extending toward a lower frequency can be obtained and if the sound guide member is made short, voluminous characteristics can be obtained. If the distance between the load member and the speaker is shortened, transient characteristics are improved and if the distance is made longer, voluminous characteristics can be obtained.
