PURPOSE: To grind and polish a curved groove for a prime mover in which a machine body is rotated, in order to precisely finish the groove, by providing such an arrangement that a cutter is vertically reciprocated by twice during one revolution of a table for carrying thereon a workpiece.
CONSTITUTION: Two worm shafts 6a, 6b journalled to a C-shape frame 1 are coupled together by means of bevel gears, perpendicularly, and a worm gear 7b fixed on the worm shaft 6a is meshed with a worm wheel 5a fixed to a table 4 while a worm gear 7b fixed on the worm shaft 6b is meshed with a worm wheel 5b fixed to a worm wheel shaft 10, and a disc 11 is fixed to one end of the worm shaft 10 journalled to the C-shape frame 1. When a motor 9a coupled to the upper part of the worm shaft 6b is rotated, the disc 11 is rotated by two revolutions during the table 4 being rotated by one revolution. A cutter 17 is inserted into a cylinder set on the table 4, and then is rotated while the table is moved toward the rear cutter side, thereby a curved groove is formed in the inner surface of the cylinder.
