To provide an easily-manufacturable specimen detection device capable of detecting highly accurately a specimen in specimen-containing vessels, and having a simple device constitution.
This specimen detection device is mainly characterized by being equipped with an infrared CCD camera 10 capable of imaging the specimen-containing vessels 5, 6 which are subjects, a position control device 20 for performing position control of the infrared CCD (charge-coupled device) camera 10, image signal processing devices 31, 32 for performing conversion processing of an image signal of the object photographed by the infrared CCD camera 10 into a signal in a mode suitable for specimen detection, and specimen detection devices 41, 42 for detecting the specimen based on the signal subjected to the conversion processing by the image signal processing devices 31, 32.
