Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent abrasion of a brake pad by conducting down-shift operation at a car velocity which will produce no speed change shock sensed by a driver's body during meandering, and conducting down-shift operation at a designated car velocity in such a manner that the rotational frequency of a torque converter becomes equal to the idling rev count during braking in an automatic speed change gear for a car. CONSTITUTION:In an automatic speed change gear 1 having an engine 100 and a fluid torque converter 3, during meandering, down-shift is conducted at a car velocity which will produce no large speed change shock sensed by a driver's body according to a basic speed change pattern. During braking, down-shift is conducted at a designated car velocity in such a manner that at each speed change step, the rotational frequency of a turbine of the fluid torque converter 3 becomes equal to the idling rev count of the engine 100. Thus, a brake pad of a brake for braking a car is avoided from being worn away in its early stage by driving force.
