PURPOSE: To optimize engine load and reduce fuel consumption by using the change rate of engine speed that is a differential value of the engine speed for the time and providing a driver with the speed change indication corresponding to the grade of a road.
CONSTITUTION: The rotary speed of an engine l while a vehicle is running, the rack position that controls the amount of fuel injection and the setting position of a speed changer are detected by a rotary speed sensor 2, rack position sensor 4 and speed changer sensor 5, respectively and those detection signals are input to an operation circuit 6. The operation circuit 6 operates the change rate of an engine speed for the time and compares how much the operated value is for the engine operation area with regard to the stored specific fuel consumption. In addition, if the vehicle must change the speed for the grade of the road on which it runs, the vehicle issues an output signal to an information sound generator 8 and the generator 8 provides a driver with the speed change information aurally depending on changes in sound quality.
