To provide a speed reducer for a transport pipe capable of reducing crushing of particulate in storing the particulate represented by rice or the like.
A branch pipe 60 is drawn out of the midway of a first transport pipe 12, and an exhaust pipe 31 is drawn out of a storing tank 18 of a rice mill 16. The branch pipe 60 is provided with a first flow control valve 64, and the exhaust pipe 31 is provided with a pressure gauge 66, an orifice flow meter 68 and a second flow control valve 70. The meters and the flow control valves are connected to a control means 72. When the speed reducer 30 is thus constructed, the wind speed of the first transport pipe 12 can be obtained by the values from the meters. When the obtained wind speed is the wind speed exceeding a preset rice crushing rate, the first flow control valve 64 and the second flow control valve 70 are adjusted to reduce the wind speed of the first transport pipe 12, so that the rice crushing rate can be lowered.
