PURPOSE: To provide a small-sized spherical actuator in which the movable range of an output shaft is extended.
CONSTITUTION: A substantially circular or substantially circular shell rotor 4 is housed in the cavity part 3 of a casing 1 having a substantially circular window 2. Three stators 5a, 5b, 5c are arrange at equal intervals of angle of 120° along the maximum circle (equator) of the rotor 4 in such a manner that each central axis L of the stators 5a, 5b, 5c passes the center G of the rotor 4 to rotatably support the rotor 4 without making contact with the inner wall surface of the cavity part 3. Thus, the structure for supporting the rotor 4 can be simplified and downsized. The surface area of the rotor occupied by the stators is also minimized to extend the movable range of an output shaft.
