Abstract:

To provide a spherical belt-like seal body and an exhaust pipe joint device of an automobile using it wherein the spherical belt-like seal body can be securely fixed to the tube end of an upstream side exhaust pipe, an abnormal sound by a stick slip and the like is not generated between a cylinder inner surface and the tube end of the upstream side exhaust pipe which are fit with each other even if a force in a torsion direction is inputted to the spherical belt-like body from a downstream side exhaust pipe, without giving a driver uncomfortable feeling, and a method to manufacture the spherical belt-like seal body easily in a short period of time.

The spherical belt-like material 28 is equipped with a spherical belt-like base 27 restricted by the cylinder inner surface 23, a partial convex spherical outer surface 24, ring-shape end surfaces 25, 26 of the large diameter side and the small diameter side of a partial convex spherical outer surface 24, and an expandable ring-like coating layer 29 integrally formed to the cylinder inner surface 23 of the spherical belt-like base 27 and the coating layer 29 consists of a mixture of acidified graphite and wax.
