Abstract:
PURPOSE:To make open-and-close operation of a spherical valve extremely easy, by constructing it with a spherical valve body and a valve seat having an inside surface configuration corresponding to the outside configuration of the valve body, and by designing it so that respective flow passages can be opened or shut off by relative swinging motions of these two members. CONSTITUTION:The desirable spherical valve is obtained by fitting the hollow and spherical valve body 1 into the similar spherical valve seat 2 so that the former contacts with the inside surface of the latter tightly and yet in a free-to-swing condition. The valve body 1 is provided with an inlet 3 and an outlet 4 perpendicularly to the center 0 of the swinging motion, and the outlet 4 is provided with a discharge pipe 5 extending downwardly. On the other hand, the valve seat 2 is provided with an inlet 6 connected to an inlet conduit 7. When the inlets 3 and 6 are in open-through positions as depicted in the sketch, a liquid from the inlet conduit 7 flows out through the discharge pipe 5. When the discharge pipe 5 is swung to the chain line position, however, the inlet 6 is shut off by the wall surface of the body 1, and therefore, the flow of the liquid is stopped.
